Birds of Paradise & Worry Boxes

This month has been a month of digger proportions, I felt like I was running in quick sand only to have the universe digging my grave at the same time.

However as much as husband leaving, clutch going, brakes kaput, new tires needed, end of the semester = way too many essays to count, starting my new clinical placement, play dates, 4 very very sad and confused children...

There were always birds of paradise flying by to give me a helping hand, whether it be financially, emotionally or dinners at my door.

With the advice of a professional I put together worry boxes for each child.

Contents:

1. hand crocheted animal stress ball from Austria (Thanks Etsy)

2. note pad to write of color the negative feelings and emotions onto paper

3. crayons for expressing emotions

4. wintergreen mints, cause they rock

5. a pen for my writing savy children

6. a family picture to make them smile

The boxes have been a hit and Rylie is even using hers at school and is having an easier time expressing herself.

When the above flower arrangement arrived at my door, I was at a brain injured clinic working and my mum phoned to tell me about the beautiful flowers waiting for me :) I reconnected with my birth father in August and he has been a daily support both emotionally and financially and the flowers took the cake, he knew I had had the worst day so far and wanted to send me a 'floral hug'.

My parents here have been wonderful as well and I am blessed to have 3 parents who love me and the kiddos.

I have a lot of support from people and friends and I am grateful, I am grateful I am starting to like myself again, I am grateful my house is peaceful and decorated for Christmas since the beginning of November! I am grateful for the daily reminders my children give me to smile and enjoy life. I am grateful I write my nursing exams in May!!! Only one last semester WOOHOOO

I am sad, devastated and confused, however I know my Heavenly Father is looking out for me and I will come out on top of the mountain that seems to have collapsed.

The Look of Love

I have began to realize just how much I write, use words and express myself through them! I read 100-250pgs of text books a week, I read my essays after writing them for days, I read my patients charts and Dr.'s orders, I write my case studies and care plans, I read stories to my patients...
Speaking of reading to patients, my one patient wanted me to read to her and all she had was a murderous steamy romance novel! oh dear and the impact of her anerisms had made her fixated on death and s.. soooo I felt the need to change the entire story line! LOL after I read three chapters of my imagination and not the words I was seeing, she said 'that is a reallllly bad novel!'. and ps those steamy romance novels made me blush and shocked you can buy them at the dollar store!

I love that I am learning, I love that through reading and writing I am able to increase my financial earnings x1000%, I love that it makes me a more well rounded peep, I love that it makes me smile and scream in frustration at how long the chp is!

So here is where my head/face/mind has been for the past umpteen longish 2 years :)
(when i locate my camera i shall photograph the gazillions of books including the one that weighs... are you ready... 21 lbs!!!!)

and in case you are wondering who is caring for my kidlets, they are building forts, screaming at each other, digging for dino bones, sneaking in the snack cupboard, gettting into my makeup, and begging me to put their feather extensions in their hair! So they are fine and my mind may or may not explode.
(and this is where a pic of my kids will be)

and I am now blonde LOL, you can put the hairdresser in nursing scrubs but you cant take the hairdresser away for good!
(and here you shall see my new tresses!!)

Grandma Jane and Grandpa Casey

FIRST OF ALL WE LOVE YOU GRANDMA JANE & GRANDPA CASEY

This past week was wonderful, Todd's parents came to visit the brood on the Island!

We idled in a NO IDLE ZONE

Todd was full of handsome manly smiles and lots of "I don't know's"

I looked well... I have looked better!

We saw beautiful wind chimes on creepy trees in Tofino

Grandma Jane made Grandpa Casey run barefoot into the ocean!

This is the above noted 'creepy tree'

I wrote this in the sand

We kissed

We walked

We posed

Beautiful Tofino made possible by Jane & Casey

My parents watched all four rug rats so that Todd, myself and his parents could go up Island to Tofino for the day, it was wonderful! Full of stories, windy roads and lots of laughs.

On our way back to Nanaimo

The view from our room

The night before our Tofino day trip Jane & Casey stayed at our house with the kids while we ENJOYED their time share ALONE for the night.

Did I mention we ENJOYED being ALONE

While they were so kind to watch our children and let us enjoy their room they showered our children with gifts, time and kindness!

Days were also spent looking for Indians-Rylie- and Moose-Jane-
We enjoyed your company so very much Jane &Casey! I only wish there were not so many states and provinces between us.
